Earlier this month Augie and Joe set up, and hosted our first meet of the season. Held at Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Patchogue, it turned out to be a perfect venue for the get-together. Spirits were high and quality cars were in abundance. The vehicles in attendance were from all over Long Island and even a few made the trip down from Connecticut. The turnout for that Sunday afternoon was definitely a sign of good things to come for the summer. We will be having another event shortly and look forward to seeing everyone there.

Just Another B5…

Not too long ago, Ralph picked up this A4 built by his good friend David. The car is fitted with a BagRiders air-ride kit with adjustable AirLift struts along with some Hardlines by Swoops. There is some work under the hood as well. A Garrett GT2871R turbo feeds the 1.8t along with a Racetec front mount intercooler. A 3 inch ATP test pipe to a 2 and 3/4 inch Milltek catback handles the exhaust out the back.

Ralph is slowly, but surely, making the car his own. The front end was cleaned up by some fender work and a new bumper cover. The new paint makes for a fresh but subtle addition. The most noticeable change has been to the wheels. A set of staggered AutoStrada Modenas were purchased only to be immediately torn apart. Originally a face-mounted set of wheels, they were reassembled as a sandwich mount along with moving the rear barrels to the front and front barrels to the rear. Thus, making the previously 17×8 & 17×9 setup a square 17×9 all around. All while still maintaining the staggered look by having 1 inch lips up front and 1.5 inch lips out back. The fully polished finish on the wheels really brings out the details as well.

I recently met up with Ralph to get some photos of the new setup but due to time constraints and lack of daylight we were confined to the driveway. Either way, I still was able to get a few in before the sun went down. Check it out.

Spring Fling

Limerock, a reputable race track in the beautiful mountains of Northwest Connecticut. On a usual race day there are Porches, Ferrari’s, Corvette’s, kit cars you name it’s here. However this time around not so much. The sounds of cars racing around the track are replaced with the sounds of screaming turbos, and screaming tires. This is the Lock City Drift’s “Spring Fling”. An event put together by a group of good friends, Lock city brings together the Connecticut drift scene by providing events for the intents of just having fun.

With years of automotive experience in the professional realm it baffles me as to why consumers would purchase counterfeit RAYS wheels. Deer Park, NY has become somewhat of a breeding ground for performance shops each with their own identity and focus. Having heard Dave Brown of the late MSPT tuning relocated to the hot bed and opened a new venture, Performance Auto Solutions, it only seemed polite to show face at his Grand Opening Meet.

Ivy League East Fall Meet

In spite of Hurricane Sandy, the Nor’Easter days prior and the gas crisis that plagued pumps across Long Island, the Fall Meet was a success. Temperatures were on the rise and the Sun showed faced though the grey skies last Saturday and it was apparent that no one had time for Winter ride height adjustments. With help from Chameleon Tuning and Flat Out Vinyl, the once destined-for-failure-meet, given all obstacles, turned out extremely well.
