If you ever thought about going to the circuit you’ve come across the uninviting costs of doing so and like any competitive activity practice or in this case seat time it is what separates “the men from the boys” or is it? There has been a growing discussion among the Honda-Tech community regarding video games such as Gran Turismo 5 and Forza 4 and the idea that consciously playing them has benefited individuals when tracking in reality as the game physics are relative to that of the real World. Clearly not the only persons to think so as the television show, GT Academy was produced, note the word produced. In any case, the cost of becoming a respected driver ,if you do happen to believe the idea of simulators, has drastically been reduced and the Winter… well E and I are going to Miami for a few months :shrugs: Can anyone comment on Palm Beach International Raceway?

It’s hard to believe that the season is approaching its conclusion. With the warm weather behind us, the cold weather present and the very cold looming in the near future, we’ve been attempting to cover every meet, race and “gathering” within reason. With appointments to roll 3 cars’ fenders earlier that morning Spilner and I were a bit discouraged as to if we would be able to attend Island Import Day’s season finale. But the inability of a BMW 135i to hold their appointment provided us with an opportunity to go and doing so I made sure to go nuts and shoot every f$%kin’ photo-worthy gem insight.

The TSX is a platform that many people are beginning to consider buying as the prices are dropping into the 9k to 15k price range. Although, it’s a FWD 4 banger (K24) which you may or may not want, you can go any which way with modifying the car. You can go ricey (lol), sporty (because racecar?), OEM+, OEM JDM-style, VIP, or full on Race; it’s all up to your budget and taste. Oh… and it has a nice interior but I might be biased.
With that being said, check out Benson’s TSX out from Canada and a couple of the TSXs/wagon in the tristate. His car has gone through many phases, from Mugen to Wald to OEM to Spoon/Phase, sporting many rare and hard to find parts like the front bumper, P. Mu BBK, and a handful of other parts.
Pick your poison….

PSA!! : HONDA DAY PART 2 IS THIS COMING SUNDAY AT ENGLISHTOWN!
Being that it has been some time since our last meet we felt compelled to host another before the Summer’s end and what better location than CANZiti, a new Hooters-type restaurant.
After I have my way with my current S2000 which I’m picking an amuse r1 bumper for this weekend, I’ll be sure to move on to Honda’s bread and butter, the NSX.
Waking up early on a Sunday is not something that I usually look forward to, but this past weekend I was headed out to Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ for the 16th annual Summer Slam. Being that my wheels were to be traded very soon I didn’t feel like risking any damage on those crappy NJ roads, so I hopped in with a friend and her Mini Cooper S. We were cruising with another friend on his Yamaha R6 so we were not alone on the drive. After some trouble with the EZ Pass and some paperwork at the toll for the Verrazano Narrows Bridge it was smooth sailing. I had never really been in a Mini for more than a short drive before so I was curious as to how the ride was going to be. Several weeks ago she had installed some BC Racing Coilovers and after we made some recent adjustments to them they rode great. Aside from some occasional rubbing from her stock wheels and giant tires everything was gravy.
After a short stop to take advantage of Jersey’s cheap gas and to scarf down some less-than-healthy BK breakfast sandwiches we pulled up to the gates at E-Town. Walking through the parking lot up to the grand stands and the pits where the show was held I could almost swear I saw the entire Rota wheel catalog. If the show was going to be anything like the lot was I was ready to head home, but I was pleasantly surprised once I walked through the pits. I was instantly bombarded with the potent aroma of combusted race gas. That combined with the style of drag cars present put a smile on my face. From the classic Toyotas, Datsuns to the old rotary Mazdas I was in awe of the actual size of these cars in person and the fact that they run sub 8 second 1/4 mile times at speeds in excess of 180 mph. From the pits we made our way over to the bulk of the show cars. Liberty VIP car club had some of the finest vehicles there. Those guys keep raising the bar every time I see them. There were a few hidden gems intertwined with the retarded sound systems and the Lambo doors.
To finish the day off, we baked ourselves in the sun on grandstands to watch some races. It started off slow but got really good as the faster classes took to the track. Watching a car dial in at 7.90 only to break out and watch the team get just as excited as if they had won was entertaining and refreshing as well. It’s that kind of excitement that let’s everyone know that they were really pushing the car to its fullest. All in all it was a great day and the event is definitely on my list for next year.
The RSX and Si may well be one of Honda’s last performance FWD combustion engine “sports cars” but it is by no means the least admired. Having always been a fan of the Integra, their was no debate as to wether or not I was a fan of the DC5.
Why we made a trip into Queens Sunday for the 2011 FMP Bakerz meet slipped my mind as the road quality simulated that of a 3rd World country, perhaps even worse. But after our emotions settled and the idea of our exhaust crushed and subframes flattened faded, the smiles returned and we again realized that we were there because we love tuning.
The moment we committed to hosting a meet on Saturday all elements seemed to stack against us. Pressed for time and a rainy forecast, we expected the worst and hoped for the best. Shortly before 2pm, the other contributors to ILE and I met and washed each others cars but our arrival to Ralph’s Italian Ice in Patchogue was kindly met by a female police officer. The foul weather receded but now we had to deal with the firm lady hand of the law, clearly. Eating our ices as courteous as possible, she left on her own terms and you could feel the tension vanish. In high spirits due to the fact that there were absolutely no ricers, NONE, yeah OMFG, no f$%king way, and the awesome weather, we took advantage and advanced the cruise time to 4 instead of 4:30PM so to not press our luck.
Del Sol. Perhaps be most confusing Civic chassis as you can barely define the peculiar targa top. Not quite a coupe, not quite a convertible, definitely not a CRX, a fact taken into consideration as the CRX and Civic label was dropped outside of the Japanese Domestic Market. Nevertheless, the unique Honda platform has found its place among niche enthusiasts looking for something special amongst the Honda line up.
Few days exist in my life where at least one conversation doesn’t involve something automotive related and I love it. I can honestly say that automotive performance is something I can’t imagine my life without and I’m incredibly happy that I have this medium to share with you all-things related that I enjoy. Using that as a transition to express that I f#$&ing hate our web designer, Ryan Richmond, for ,#1, being one of the most unprofessional individuals I’ve ever dealt with in any business transaction and ,#2, interfering with my bread&butter, as we have sponsors anticipating the second development of the site (one of which is our vinyl sponsor for all those curious as to where the sabre-skulls are), I am looking for a competent web designer to, as you could imagine, redesign ILE. Please submit proposals and inquiries to contact@ivyleagueeast.com
After hearing and reading about Honda Day’s epic attendance at Atco Raceways I couldn’t help but to post something to support the community. Everyone loves to hate FF Honda’s so I figured I’d share one that’d received praise from Honda’s fanbois and the utmost hate from errrrrrrbody else.
Went out east to a Acura meet with the semi-nice weather. To be completely honest, because I see modded Acuras so often, I’ve become kinda bored with the company as a whole. It doesn’t help that none of the new Acura body styles seem appealing to me. Anywho…… On the way back home from the meet, I snapped some pictures of my friend Kevin’s TL rolling nice on his new spring/summer set up (Volk GT-V). Rota owners need not apply. No fake wheels here
Track season is almost within reach and I can’t stop thinking about buying up an Integra. Having always wanted to build one, I think it might be time to take advantage of one and lap the s%&T out of it on the track and preserve the S2000. :shrugs:
For those of you who are under the understanding that a beater is… well a beater, are going to be baffled to discover that this ITR is JDMJay’s… “beater,” daily if you must. Parting out the CCWs to fund another project, AN NSX!, I for one have the highest expectations for Jay’s take on Honda’s flagship vehicle.

This is definitely one of those cars that has you considering another project. Craigslist time…
Once just a winner of one of our sabre skull contests, Mr. John Cobb also happens to be a talented local photographer. Erik’s Rio Yellow s2000 definitely catches your eye on the teal Advan RG’s.
“Critics and supporters alike say that we are “hardparked,” a term we hate to be characterized by, but like all double duty vehicles the opportunity to occupy a venue together wouldn’t slip past us. The day before on a “casual” cruise we scoped out a vacant parking garage ripe and ready for some hardparking. The idea to have a micro meet that evening came to mind but hesitation and the fact that a few small bits and pieces were expected to arrive the following day postponed our plans. The hesitance lasted shortly as the follow morning Spilner rang me at work explaining that we were going to have a photoshoot that evening. Expecting only a had full of cars, 5 or Less, I made my reservation. Hours later and a number of phone calls from Spilner, the micro meet developed some momentum and we had something worthy of mentioning.”
I’m itching to pick up a set of mesh wheels and this RSX is not helping. Looking super sassy on a set of Gold Works, JPdc5 displays just how easy it is to make an RSX Type-S “shine.”
