“Success isn’t measured by the position you reach in life: it’s measured by the obstacles you overcome.”
-Booker T. Washington
I like to believe this Honda Civic initially developed to be an economical commuter car is a proper example of the quote above. Often a joke to the car enthusiast outside the Honda community it’s the underdog that was the foundation for an entire generation of tuners. True story, this Summer at a Watkins Glen circuit day with the PCA a gentleman driving a 996 GT3 Cup was more than enthusiastic about a turbo Civic at the clubs last outing. G’night

Titled after the owner’s words, this Mk1 stays true to them. Rolling on 13×8 et0 Diamond Racing Steelies the Jetta coupe captures my automotive heart. I can’t wait for the spring.

More Miata PLZ
The sun is setting and the top is down, the wind is warm and the passenger resembles the girl you dreamt about the evening before, all while cruising along a road riddled with twists and turns perfectly constructed to exercise the cars limitations. This is the thought that comes to mind when I’m asked about my passion which is more frequent than you would believe and for some reason my passion has developed into a obsession with particular attention to roadsters. The S2000, 911 Turbo (Cabriolet), Miata and Cobra are a few cars that have always sparked my curiosity when the right enhancements are applied. That being so it is only natural to feature this NA1 Miata shot by Andy Carter, a CANIBEAT and SouthernFresh photographer.

On a tangent I was looking at Miatas on Craigslist and I love when the post says RARE… “You are really dumb”
Pretty Bubbles!
This afternoon good ole D’dirty and I made our way into NYC to chat it up with our friend and site developer Ry’Rich to discuss the rejuvenation of the lovely Ivy League East page. Excited? Me too. After tossing around ideas for a few hours, we’ve come to some what of an agreement in regards to appearance. The STORE and other adjustments will be made to make the page will be more visually appealing and easier to navigate. Party time!

Honda.Day.2010
Yesterday, August 15 2010, Joe aka FRENCH and myself went to Honda Day 2010 at Englishtown (props to Sean PANA Stuart for inviting us). So here’s how the day went for me. Woke up at 6:30 AM to wash the car, took a shower, headed out to meet up with FRENCH, and then drove to E-town. I was in the show, but I didn’t compete because of complications with registration, but I still had a lot of fun. It was great to see some familiar faces and some e-famous and not so famous rides. I met up with PANA and we talked for a few and he gave us some crazy complements which really meant a lot. It was great to have conversation with a fellow car enthusiast and photographer about more than just cars and pictures of cars, but its culture. We can look at pictures all we want, but growth in the enthusiast, the culture, and the quality of the cars being built, is the ultimate goal of IvyLeagueEast because for those people out there that really do build cars because of their love for cars and all things incorporated, the car would not be sh!t without them. Remember, YOU should be building the car, NOT an internet forum, NOT a viral website, NOT youtube, just YOU!
So this post goes out to all of our less fortunate single cam, non-vtec toting car owners, as well as our lucky DOHC vtec equipped B, H, F, 2.0 or 2.4 liter K series, or 6 cylinder J series boasting die hard Honda fans.
Special shout-outs go out to Sean PANA Stuart, Sol Fresh Krew, New Image Motorsports, Dave Tormey and the rest of the Canibeat crew, and the one guy with the Red S2000 on teal Works for shutting-it-down!
Here’s our coverage from the show. Forgive me for the quantity of pictures that I took, but I think these will suffice.

Mom?
As hesitant as I was to post this Ferio (JDM Civic Sedan) on Diamond Racing wheels I knew that some of our followers would really appreciate this slammed econobox. In all honesty though, my mom used to drive a 2000 Civic sedan LX a number of years ago in the same color scheme, before I was “in the know,” and I thought it was the best sh*t since individually packaged cheese slices and peanut butter cup sundaes (yeah I was heavy when I was younger, boss)

Cars are often the theme of my conversations (and I’m sure many of yours). Usually discussing the performance aspect of things or picking someone’s brains for insight and information, the topic never seems to get old. In a recent discussion, the subject of getting to the track more often occurred. Having never driven on a circuit before the idea of lapping a car that is expensive to maintain, while learning, was exhausting. Thoughts such as frequently replacing pricier brake pads, rotors, bushings, all the different fluids, etc had me cringing. Like any normal person the idea of picking up a dedicated track beater became a necessity rather than an option. Considering all makes and models to embark on my journey in, the reputable and affordable Miata came into mind. As a firm believer that a car should perform and look good doing it, a quick look around would have me favoring the micro convertible.
What do you think?

WHY!?
Why would you intentionally rust your hood and trunk?! The JDM conversion Integra looks great but it is ruined by the corroded bonnet and boot. The paint looks immaculate which is why I’m distraught by the poor presentation. It just seems wrong… Aside from that it looks great like I said

Heartache
I was thrilled that United States beat Algeria this morning but once the happiness settled my thoughts immediately returned to the growing issue of the BP oil spill. Concerned about the long term effects of the disaster I can only hope that one of the many suggested solutions remedies the problem. Below are some cars that are a bit nauseating, not to say they aren’t nice.

Diamond Racing Wheels… Again :D
If you conducted a survey on a random sample of auto enthusiast and asked them which platform they preferred to modify within a reasonable budget you’d receive a variety of answer but, arguably, the least likely response would be a Scion Xb. Taking what some often refer to as a toaster, this owner produces a mesmerizing work of art. Sans the vinyl decals and wheels, this box could easily be categorized as style VIP with set of Eurolines or Viena Krais because of it’s soft exterior choices and sophisticated interior. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the set up and wouldn’t have it any other way seeing that it clearly communicates the owners personality.

Diamond Cutter, Diamond Racing
Dirty in the past posted a flush, TRD wide bodied MR2, since then I’ve been waiting for another one to rise up and maintain the MR2s’ gloried existence in the stance universe. My prayers were answered! This MR2 sits pretty on a set of perfect diamond racing wheels. There are few cars that I believe will always be valued by enthusiasts, this is one of them.

I NEED THIS

Daily Bread
The age of the Acura Integra leaves very few clean used versions available. This popular tuning platform has been subject to a number of automotive trends through the years which has had a negative effect on the used market. When I discovered this mint DC2 on custom diamond racing wheels my immediate response was to share it with my readers. Living in New York we are often exposed to distasteful Integras equipped with hideous wheels, rear bumper holes and ebay exhaust (the list goes on including ill-fitted ebay lips of course). Consider this an attempt at altering the owners sense of style.

Miata, MX-5, Eunos Roadster…. You Get it
The Mazda Miata is often considered one of the most feminine vehicles today by many car enthusiasts whether it may be from it’s miniature size or it’s popularity with the ladies (false stereotype because most of time I see middle age men driving them) but recently I’ve recently noticed a change in tide. Few us know that Mazda’s roadster is best selling topless two seater in the World. Suprised? Don’t be. With a healthy aftermarket and the growing popularity of drifting these compacts, the styling of them has improved dramatically.
