Maureen’s Kitchen Cruise

Mornings aren’t my friend. Never were, never will be but a text late last Friday night would have me up at the earliest sign of morning to appreciate the aggressive contour of a couple exotics and the exhaust notes of a handful of V10s.

FC’d Up

Occasionally, I come across a car that results in a frenzy! Searching Craigslist and scouring forums for model specifics and deals I lose myself for a bit discovering and satisfying my curiosity. As you can imagine I’m busy beasting on rx7club right now because of the FC below… DAMN YOU MAZDA!

Patrice’s STi

The year came and went before I had an opportunity to blink. With meets and track days usually scheduled back to back during the season, a promise to Patrice to shoot his STi for a feature sat low on the list of priorities. But having heard that he planned to unload the Work XD-9′s due to their increasing popularity locally I knew that time was of the essence and it quickly became a priority.  His portfolio of past ownerships would reveal his allegiance to the Honda/Acura moniker but his take on Subaru’s flagship vehicle would silence most insulting remarks. And now to the feature presentation…

Holiday Spirits with Exotics

The holidays always get people in the giving mood, even exotic owners.  Today Ferrari of Long Island held a toys for tots fundraiser  to spread the joy of the holiday season which also included a lunch-in at Serata  in Oyster bay.  As you can guess, there were plenty of super cars to go around.  Not just Ferrari’s, but everything from Lamborghini to Lotus and Nissan to Porsche.  All monikers were in attendance.

Hibernation

With Thanksgiving past us it’s only a matter of a time before the winter season begins and these few weeks will have people rushing to return their car back into winter mode. Whether it be swapping out their baller wheels or getting that last minute wash in there’s much to do and not much time to do it.  Here enters Travis and Tyler, two good friends of mine, both with amazing cars.  Both built from blood, sweat, and tears and it’s only right that they get notoriety for their hard work. The sheer level of dedication that was put into building these two cars is second to none. With a break in the weather, we’ve decided it was time to get some photos in before the season ended. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the “one”.

Exercise Knowledge

Yo BRO!

Ugh after hours of traveling, Spilner and I have returned from the BudLight Port Paradise Cruise. Three words can define the adventure; Beer, Bros and… this requires very little thought, HOs, young and old. “Like” our Facebook page to see the few shots we managed to get.

In case of emergency, dial 911.

I’m not sure if I’ve caught the Rauh-Welt bug or what, but I’m developing a fond appreciation for air-cooled 911′s. I’ve been considering replacing my daily driver for some time now, and when it comes to daily drivers, practicality typically comes to mind. Early model 911′s aren’t exactly practical for an 80 minute round trip daily commute, but if I happened to come across a fine example of a 911, I think I’d be forced to make a questionable decision. Personality, nostalgia, style, this car just has all that I’m looking for.

Action!

Been a big week for me, which is why our homepage has been slow to change, but I’m back.  Having received my resumes’ final approval from my schools’ industry relations manager, the time has come to begin meeting with Sr. Vice Presidents from major financial corporations like J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs.  Being that companies like these are in the process of determining their May hires now, there is absolutely zero time to waste and any mistake could prove detrimental to the success of my career in finical risk management.  I’ve been working non-stop and networking my rear end off for a while now and I find myself jogging along the runway of cheerleaders and exploding through my own team poster.  It’s game time and my desktop image had to be changed.  While the STi that previously maintained its’ position as the car I saw each time I turned my computer on was great, this 997 will provide the motivation necessary to keep me clawing my way through this challenging time.  Keep it movin! Have a great weekend.

Connect!

One thing that continues to surprise me about this scene is the way fellow tuners always manage to find each other regardless of their environment.  Whether it’s deciding to park your car on the upper level of your schools parking garage in an effort to avoid door dings only to get there and find a half dozen other enthusiasts already parked, or simply running into a group of cars during a random evening cruise you took to clear your head, there always seems to be some sort of magnetic connection that unites us.  The car I’m about to share with you was shot by one of my good friends, Andy Massar, whom I connected with on PBNation.com, a paintball forum.  Yeah, pretty random huh? Regardless of the hows or whys, I’m glad this force that brings us all together exists because without it too many automotive gems would not get the proper exposure they deserve and missing out on this 740whp s4 would be unfortunate to say the least. Enjoy your Saturday night.

Movie Time- TWO-TONE S13 short film

I wish I could say everyone was talented or had some expertise but I’ll be honest, not everyone is or will be but fortunately for us there are some individuals who excel in a particular skill or gift, if you will, whether it be innate or learned. That being said this short film featuring a, if you couldn’t have guessed, two-toned S13 Silvia by JHD Productions otherwise known as Jordan Hamelin is very well done. Without further delay…

Influence

First and foremost the staff at ILE are friends before anything and that being so the truth which hurts so much is communicated to the fullest of detail. Most of us owning an s2000 before or currently know how capable the platform is, but few of us know more than E. Having had 2 AP1s and a turbo AP2, his newest and 4th s2k will live its unnatural life along side mine gracing the circuit. WINNING

For You Late Night Readers…..

We all have had those late night reads…. spending hours upon hours reading a certain forum topic, or story perhaps!

Winners Circle

The IvyLeagueEast family has grown far beyond its britches into realms that we’ve never thought were within reason a year ago. Having been featured on the “super-blogs” such as SpeedHunters, Canibeat and Just Stance the growth has been exponential and the experiences have been worth sharing.

Living in close proximity to the Hamptons, as you already know, Spliner, E, the most recent of age, Chris Amodei, and I made an appearance  at Beach Bar, our Friday night shindig. Always planning ahead, E sourced two Four Lokos to alleviate Spilner’s race inspired driving but the alcohol only succeeded in developing unique conversational topics for the drive LOL.

The night slowly transitioned into early morning and winning is the only word that would accurately describe the evening. As I woke this morning I recalled that I had won a trip, for TWO, to a private island concert on behalf of BudLight. Without needing to further describe our Friday I’ll close with a most attractive hawk-eye STi equipped with classic BBS LMs amongst other complementary aero parts.

RTR Porsche Club @ Watkins Glen International 2011

Watkins Glen International was “long known around the World as the home of the United States Grand Prix, which it hosted for 20 consecutive years (1961–1980), but it has been a venue to road racing of nearly every class for over 50 years, including Formula One, the World Sportscar Championship, Can-Am, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and the IndyCar Series.”

Having visited Seneca Lake on numerous occasions, I’ve always planned on one day trying my luck on the historic circuit and when an opportunity presented itself via the Riesentöter Porsche Club the ability to decline was immediately waived.

… and on that weekend not a single f$%& was given

Hella-f$%&ing Yes- FD3 RX7

Let’s be honest, we are all very enthusiastic about the way a hellaflush, dumped, poked, stretched, cambered, aggressive fitment car appears, that is as if it has some sort of unbelievable handling characteristics, for anyone having a hard time arriving to that one. But what truly arouses me is a car that not only has the appeal of a vehicle that has outstanding handling traits but also the ability to deliver justice. Below you see a Mazda FD3 RX7 properly fitted with CCW classics, a wheel that has managed to become a standard in the fitment communities, rounded off by, from what I can see, a body kit that actually has some aerodynamic benefits. With all the hype surrounding the low and slow lifestyle I have my concerns as to where the future lies for automotive performance especially in consideration of commodity costs, replicas and unemployment. Whose pushing the envelope?

You Can Get With This or You Can Get With That

Sergey and Miss S2K are no strangers to the internet as both of them are overnight sensations. As a couple bound not only by their affection towards each other but also by tuning it appears that their is a glimmer of hope in the World. With an MR2 as such and an S2000 that would snap the neck of any on looker it’s hard to imagine who caught whose attention first.

American (LeMans) Hero

We woke that morning with the littlest intention of actually going to the American LeMans at Lime Rock as most of us scrambled to prepare for the day to come. I received a phone call from E early to see if I was “up and ready” and of course I lied through my teeth. “Yeah,” I managed to communicate and rushed to collect my belongings scattered amongst my apartment from the soiree the evening before.

He arrived with his “old lady” and my head felt like a damaged lump. The transition from the night to morning felt seamless, a negative thing as there should be a clear point of differentiation, but as a man of my word I committed to attending the race.

The 4 hour drive was eased by a classic hot breakfast sandwich and cold strawberry, orange and banana tropicana orange juice.

Our arrival would not be received well without libations (alcoholic beverages ;) and given the circumstances, E bringing Lauren, it wasn’t a concern as to who would be driving home. lol With two Four Lokos loaded,  my T1i in hand and the fact that I was surrounded by a flood of L series Death Star Lenses* the event coverage was relaxed as you could imagine.

Mazda Fitment

Every morning I like to wake up and play a song that’ll set the tone for the day. Whether it be an up beat electronic masterpiece, a country heartbreaker, or the newest hipster joint it’s the variety that assist in keeping each day original and fresh much like the Mazda 3 wagon on BMW 7 series* wheels below. I’ve been a fan of the concave wheels after seeing them on Rocket Bunny’s 240 and the FF Turbo 5 door has managed to stuff them on to his/her with the help of over fenders. WINNING!
