Darkness

So the fall is upon us and winter is right around the corner.  I’m still unsure as to how I feel about these chilly temperatures but one thing is for certain, Candice is loving every minute of it.  Typically, cooler temps are viewed as a bummer and an inconvenience but it brings with it air that’s more dense which is great for turbos and heat soak can now be taken out of the equation.  Also, rear wheel drive cars will have a harder time hooking up which creates an advantage for all wheel drive vehicles, another added bonus!  Today I attended the Elite Motorsports Dyno Day held at No Limit Motorsports and while I enjoyed staring at a bunch of beautiful cars, seeing the mediocre numbers put up by expensive German v8′s reminded me of the power my car packs.  After a little while I tend to get used to the violent acceleration my STi puts out but I suppose it’s good for now.  One thing that definitely impressed me however was a 135i which put down 436rwhp with full bolton’s, even though it was on race gas with a bunch extra psi thrown into it.  Still pretty cool.  The time has come for me to get downstairs and devour the incredible turkey dinner my mom made equipped with about 15 side dishes, but before I go I’ll leave you with an Evo X that simply does it for me.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  I’m thinking about taking a nice drive out east tomorrow!

E’s 370z

There something about tuning that bonds men and women together but separates them all in the same. Each element of performance and personality is input into a particular platform of choice and furthermore displayed for either praise or criticism which is expected, yet those preferences and differences are what joins individuals and casts communities. I’ve had to the pleasure to work with E and Spilner and all the other contributors to ILE to create something unique and it’s not just a website, car club or facebook group; it’s a family. Having spent the weekend with the gentlemen after a rather complicated work week. I’ve come to a detailed definition as to what friends are and who I’d like to surround myself with in the future.

As you can see photographing E’s 370z was one of many events that took place this weekend.

East Coast Bash!

IMG_7204

It was a GREAT time. Even though the ride there and back wasn’t the best time I’ve ever had (shitty roads in a slammed 350z) we had a great time!! There was a lot of great cars and drivers. I really give credit to everyone that participated and give credit to Club Loose for hosting such a great event!! And while I baked in the sun getting covered in rubber on the side of the track, Brian was on the other side of the park at the 1/4 mile races. Here’s what I came up with! Enjoy!

Easy E: RE30 370z

Those of us who know E on a personal level know that he is a gentleman and professional to the T. Having purchased the 370z after regrettably seeing his turbo S2000, he moved right long and ordered coilovers. Slammed and hellasunk his heart was still filled with remorse, that was until he stumbled upon a set of Volk RE30s.

Wicked!!

IMG_6600 copy

This past Saturday Spilner and I headed up north to Wicked Big Meet…..at 4am, but made some awesome time! Had to stop once on I-84 to re-fill the E-85, and knocked out (maybe killed) a little squirrel with Spilner’s front lip…. but after that, things went smooth. Here’s the shots I got and make sure you check out my Flickr for the rest of the photos!!

Ill Motion: RSX

The RSX and Si may well be one of Honda’s last performance FWD combustion engine “sports cars” but it is by no means the least admired. Having always been a fan of the Integra, their was no debate as to wether or not I was a fan of the DC5.

Island Import car show!

5826513844_0da1e511cd_z

Spilner and I attended the Island Import show today. The Arthus showed up a bit late, but showed his face. Unfortunately the weather didn’t really want to cooperate with us, but at least the rain held off.. Very nice turnout with a bunch of nice cars. EEM was there as well with their nicely done VW’s and Audi’s. Here’s my coverage from today! Enjoy!!

Evasive’s Apex Blue S2000

“If you don’t use it, you lose it” may not apply to owning a “high” performance car but if your ownership is leaning towards the conservative side of things than you are only doing yourself a disservice.

Evasive takes this Apex Blue S2000 to the a new level of performance with Spoon aero pieces amongst other performance parts.

Cover Up: Ralph’s Italian Ice Meet

The moment we committed to hosting a meet on Saturday all elements seemed to stack against us. Pressed for time and a rainy forecast, we expected the worst and hoped for the best. Shortly before 2pm, the other contributors to ILE and I met and washed each others cars but our arrival to Ralph’s Italian Ice in Patchogue was kindly met by a female police officer. The foul weather receded but now we had to deal with the firm lady hand of the law, clearly. Eating our ices as courteous as possible, she left on her own terms and you could feel the tension vanish. In high spirits due to the fact that there were absolutely no ricers, NONE, yeah OMFG, no f$%king way, and the awesome weather, we took advantage and advanced the cruise time to 4 instead of 4:30PM so to not press our luck.

Open Forum: Street GT Z4M

I am a tremendous fan of anything designed with function whether it be clever furniture, gadgets, and, as you could imagine, automotive performance. Typically, the more utility something has the more attention of mine it gets. This Z4M fulfills all of my race interests and knowingly that it’s a BMW, my creature comforts as well.

Nostalgia: Volk’d EG Civic

Something about this EG Civic brings me back to my high school days when Sport Compact Magazine was my religion and all I could dream of was building a b-series Civic (It might be time to make that dream come true.) In other news, earlier today the gentlemen and I posse’d up and made way to the Metro NY Porsche Club’s 3rd Auto-X of the season at Tobay. As you could image it was filled with P cars of various generations as well as a number of Miatas. Holding true to our JDM roots, 3 out of the 5 us put our rice burners to the test. At the end of the day we left with ear to ear smiles, mildly bruised egos and short $40 but I guarantee you we’ll be back for some more :D

Rant: F*$% The Police

As much as I understand that the law must be obeyed (to some extent) and enforced it seems that often times that it is abused, whether it be an unjustified pull over or bending of the law for another member of the force. Cruising just below the speed limit as I was participating in a caravan with some commanding automobiles, a sheriff felt the need to come to an unbelievable distance from my rear bumper. Unsure what to do being that if I were to accelerate to pass I’d be breaking the speed limit and if I slowed down I’d have a rear end full of shit head police officer, I casually maintained my speed. Evidently agitated by my decision the officer felt it necessary to pull me over. For what you ask as I really should have slammed on the f$#%ing brakes and let this moron destroy my car and hit the lottery? From his perspective I was about to engage in a  street race? A street race?! Bizarre because from my seat I thought I was going to get rear ended by a police officer who clearly doesn’t comprehend what a safe driving distance is. Regardless I guess you can say it was a victory on my behalf as the office returned my paperwork without any of his attached just a bitch attitude claiming that he knew what I was going to do. Keep shaking that magic 8 ball bud.

Where Are All The Dope Genes..i? (Insert Genesis Plural)

The debut of the Hyundai Genesis had many tuners awestruck considering that it actually looked appealing and had two engine options with plenty of potential but since that moment, the KDM savior has had a faint presence on the automotive community as whole. “Where is you, yo!?”

Hello Spring, are you coming out for good?

Went out east to a Acura meet with the semi-nice weather. To be completely honest, because I see modded Acuras so often, I’ve become kinda bored with the company as a whole. It doesn’t help that none of the new Acura body styles seem appealing to me. Anywho…… On the way back home from the meet, I snapped some pictures of my friend Kevin’s TL rolling nice on his new spring/summer set up (Volk GT-V). Rota owners need not apply. No fake wheels here ;-)

Mission Accomplished: 350z Coilovers Installed

Few things are more rewarding than modifying your car and not running into any complications. Actually that’s not true, I could easily list a few things that are more rewarding but that’s besides the point… Having covered my brothers 350z purchase and other related discussions, I’m proud to announce he finally pulled the trigger and started collecting parts. Beginning with coilovers (d2),Work Meister S1 3piece  (18×10 and 18×12) and not ending with tires. Coilovers installed next is to stretch these tires on ;)

Street Wars 1/ Evo Vs STi (From the Pits)

After discovering that only one of us,Jon or I, could shoot track side, I volunteered to shoot the pits as Jon’s lens are far superior than my nifty-fifty and kit piece. With temperatures peaking in the mid-fifties my trigger finger was on blast! as the Wintery weather weeks before had it well rested.

Feel The Heat: New Formula Red Amuse S2000

I’ll go ahead and say it, red is the fastest color : D. In my defense, this Ap1 S2000 dressed in full Amuse GT1 widebody kit, CE28s and Mugen wing looks super fast and the Sierra-Sierra Evo and HKS CT230R destroys all.
